In my=20 last report, I reviewed the history of our industry in Florida = and=20 discussed the challenges that lay ahead. We addressed many of = these=20 challenges at the Mid-Winter Convention. As a group, we are = working on a=20 strategy to ensure the continued success of the title industry. = It is=20 interesting to note that while there are a number of significant = bills=20 pending in the legislature that affect real property titles and=20 insurance law, the focal point of our convention was = overshadowed by the=20 more pressing issues presented by the market threats to our=20 industry.

Electronic=20 Newsletter
Welcome to the first issue of the electronic=20 Tallahassee Report. It was the decision of the Board of = Directors to=20 avail ourselves of this format to allow information to be sent = on a=20 timely basis with a cost benefit to the Association derived from = reduced=20 printing and postage costs. OnStaff Partnership
The FLTA is entering = into a=20 partnership with OnStaff to create an FLTA career opportunity = web page.=20 Since the inception of our web page we have hosted an informal=20 "Positions Available" segment on our bulletin board. This was = hit or=20 miss at best and would often be visited by individuals who would = post=20 inflammatory and irrelevant information. Our new venture will = assist our=20 members and others to locate title personnel or title positions=20 available in our State. Look for this new addition to our web = site=20 within the next few weeks.

Remembering John S. = Thornton,=20 Jr.
The publication of the Real Property, Probate and = Trust Law=20 Section of the Florida Bar, ActionLine, has a wonderful article = on our=20 honored friend John S. Thornton, Jr. The article appears in the = Spring=20 2003 issue which should soon be posted to their web site,=20 www.flabarrpptl.org in the ActionLine section. John was truly an = inspiration to all who knew him and this article is well worth = reading.=20
